Yarrow Moon gathers from hedge, hearth, field and old folklore to find another way through the difficult parts of being human. Our companions are not quick fixes, impossible promises or pretty ornaments made to sit untouched upon a shelf. They are leaves, roots, stone, ash and story — deliberately gathered, thoughtfully made and meant to be held, carried and lived with.

We learn the ways of the wild to withstand the cruelties of the human mind.

MADE TO BE USED

Pretty is not the same as purposeful.

Yarrow Moon companions are made to be handled, carried and lived with. Every root, leaf, stone and natural material is chosen for the old story it carries and the work it has been trusted with — not because it looks good in a photograph.

Our Familiar pouches are deliberately plain cotton. It is a natural plant fibre: simple, neutral and open. In Yarrow Moon’s practice, the cloth does not compete with what has been gathered inside.

Velvet may look beautiful, but it is heavy and often made from synthetic materials. In our practice, that weight can muffle the subtle intention of what is held within. We would rather give you something useful than something dressed up to look useful.

And because the cotton is plain, it can become personal. Draw your own symbols on it. Write a name, word or phrase you need to remember. Squeeze it, smell it, rub the botanicals between your fingers and let the cloth soften with use.

Yarrow Moon is made for the hand, not simply for the shelf.

NOTHING IS CHOSEN AT RANDOM

The Herbarium is the heart of Yarrow Moon. Every botanical, stone and natural material has a fixed place within it, with a folk name and purpose that does not change simply because it appears in a different jar or pouch.

We look at how it grows, how it survives, what our ancestors noticed about it and why they chose to gather it. Often, the most ordinary things reveal something remarkable when we look at them another way.

The work does not give the companion its meaning. The companion brings its meaning to the work.

MADE WITH INTENTION

Every Yarrow Moon companion is made by hand with attention to the work it is being asked to hold. Ingredients are chosen deliberately, the old stories behind them are researched with care, and nothing is added simply to fill a vessel or make it look more impressive.

Where the work calls for it, vessels are constructed beneath the appropriate phase of the moon and at the time of day traditionally suited to their purpose. Before they are packed, they are cleansed in sage smoke and prepared for the person who will carry them onwards.

This is not decoration dressed up as ritual.

Every choice has a reason, every companion has a purpose, and every finished piece has been properly tended before it reaches your hands.
